Pass Plus is a scheme backed by the Government's Driving Standards Agency and insurers to encourage newly qualified drivers to become better drivers.
The Pass Plus course aims to give you a short-cut to a higher standard of driving. It does this by helping you learn what's important in a controlled way, (with an instructor) giving you extra experience and teaching you positive driving skills, rather than in the usual, trial-and-error way that used to be your only option.
Because it's controlled, it's quick - you'll learn in a few hours what most people take years to find out - if they ever do!
As soon as you start using this knowledge on your own, you will be driving more safely, and that's how the insurance companies can give you the discount - you will have earned it!
Why are competent experienced drivers less likely to have a crash?
- They tend to be more aware of things happening around them.
- They probably react more quickly to these things.
- They are more likely to choose an appropriate course of action.
- They will be more aware of what actions affect other road users.
|
Pass Plus consists of an additional course of six specially designed training sessions to follow on from a successful practical driving test.
They cover driving :-
In town
-
-
Out of town
-
-
In all weather
At night
-
-
On dual carriageways
-
-
On motorways.
There is no test, your Instructor will sign a form to say that you have successfully completed the course.
naturally, you will have to pay for the course.
Fees for the PASS PLUS course will vary depending on where you live and the instructor or driving school you choose. Bear in mind too that it will take a minimum of six hours, all of which need to be taken after passing your test. If more sessions are needed for you to successfully complete the course, this may add to the cost.
When you have successfully completed the course, you are advised to check available discounts offered by the insurance companies taking part in the scheme. The amount you save will depend on the company you choose, you may even save more than you paid for the course.
